RoHS Compliance Statement

QTI Sensing Solutions Statement Regarding RoHS Compliance, Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 June 2011 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

QTI Sensing Solutions (QTI) manufactures both non-RoHS compliant and RoHS compliant products (as explained below) to meet a variety of customer requirements. QTI has maintained a product line with non-RoHS thermistors and sensor assemblies that contain lead in solder or other portions of the material components that are necessary for certain high-reliability requirements for particular markets or customer applications.

QTI T010 Series thermistor chips currently contain lead oxide (PbO) and cadmium oxide (CdO) in the glass binder of the thick film silver metalized surface electrical contacts. It is the opinion of QTI that the thermistor chip component can be considered RoHS compliant by virtue of Items 7(c)-I and 8(b) of the Directive Annex III for applications of lead and cadmium, “which are exempted from the requirements of Article 4(1)” as follows: Item 7(c)-I of the Annex, allows applications with “electrical and electronic components with lead in a glass or ceramic…” Item 8(b) allows applications with “cadmium and its compounds in electrical contacts…” Annex Items 7(c)-I and 8(b) apply to the T010, T040, and T050 Series leadless chips. QTI T020 Series thermistor chips currently contain lead oxide (PbO) in the glass binder of the thick film gold surface electrical contacts, so Annex Item 7(c)-I applies to the T020 Series leadless chips. Therefore, all of QTI thermistor chips, including the T010, T020, T040, and T050 Series leadless chips, can be considered RoHS compliant (subject to the customer’s requirements and acceptance of the Directive Annex III) when the applicable exemptions for lead and cadmium are applied.

The T150 Series High Temperature thermistors can be considered RoHS compliant by virtue of the exemptions, Items 7(c)-I and 8(b), described above for the thermistor chip electrical contacts and the Annex III Item 7(a) exemption for “lead in high melting temperature type solders (i.e. lead-based alloys containing 85% by weight or more lead).”

Any product manufactured by QTI that is identified as “RoHS Compliant” on our product drawing and/or original factory packaging is deemed RoHS compliant as determined by our component manufacturers and independent testing when available. QTI to the best of its ability certifies that all items indicated “RoHS Compliant” on its product drawing and/or packaging are compliant to the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU. QTI further certifies that restricted substances are not knowingly added to the final products. To the best of our knowledge (information provided by suppliers), the stated component(s) is/are compliant with the RoHS directives based on the symbol applied to the packaging. The markings below are the only acceptable markings for designation of compliance.

This information is not intended to substitute for any testing that may be required to determine the suitability of these parts for any particular purpose, application, or destination.
