Thermistor Coefficients
QTI offers both NTC(Negative
Temperature Coefficient) and PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) Thermistors.
NTC Thermistors (Negative Temperature
Coefficient) exhibit a logarithmic decrease in resistance with an increase
in temperature. NTC Thermistors are highly
sensitive to changes
in temperature and are available in calibrated “interchangeable” tolerances
which make them the ideal device for precision temperature measurement or
compensation. QTI manufactures 11 different Resistance vs. Temperature
curves.
PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient)
devices will increase resistance with an increase on temperature.
They have approximately
a +.7% linear gain in resistance per a 1 degree C change in temperature.
These devices are perfect for temperature compensation of other
silicon based components which are temperature sensitive.
